April 30, 2010 - China's role in supporting growth throughout the rest of Asia partly rests on the strength of its demand for basic raw materials such as iron ore, metals, coal and petroleum. Booming demand for all of these commodities has helped support strong economic recoveries in Australia and Indonesia.
And it is no exaggeration to say that China's demand for basic chemicals and plastics has been vital for the global industry in the face of much weaker demand in the West.
